Resilience Under Fire

/, Public Speaking/Resilience Under Fire

I presented a keynote today at the ‘Resilient Women’ forum in Darebin for the Darebin City Council.

The purpose was to give context to the lived experience of Islamophobia afflicting Australian Muslim women, knowing with whom culpability for this violence lies and what steps individuals and organisations can take to end racism.

Congratulations Faten& April for coordinating today’s event, attended by a cross section of community and service providers.

Much of the impetus for this forum emanated from the ‘Islamophobia in Australia’ report launched in July this year:

“The main targets of Islamophobic violence, with half of offline attacks occurring in crowded public spaces, often in front of children. Come and find out what practical steps local agencies, community leaders and community members can take to respond to this important gendered violence and community safety issue”.
